Musical game. Downbeat offers players to move back to the era of the 80.s and test rhythmical skills playing original amusing game. Assume a role of an 80's DJ, whose task is to keep a club's dance floor overcrowded with dancing bodies by playing popular 80's hits. Each dance floor is divided into three or four colored sections (green, purple, yellow and blue) each with its own contingent of dancers. When a soundtrack begin playing, a series of colored balls drop from the top of the screen indicating certain rhythms and you must click the mouse button as they enter your rhythm circle at the bottom of the screen. If you feel the beat and match the ball to a correspondingly colored zone, you are awarded with points and additional dancers. The more dancers are on the dance, the more groove meter is. Remember that if you miss too many beats and your groove meter drops to zero, a song over. There are also numerous bonuses for you to collect. Every so often an object like a guitar or a pair of shades will fall in place of a ball. Collect three matching objects and you'll have a set, which you can then cash in for an extra injection of points. You can play two game modes: City and Freeplay. City Mode invites you to travel around different famous cities (London, New York, Miami or LA), playing definite soundtracks in every city. Freeplay is allows you to choose a hit, difficulty level and enjoy playing on any dance floor.
