Action/Role playing game. At the beginning of the game, you select one of 3 characters, a warrior, a ranged character or a magic, which influence on further skill development. Your trip starts from the mining town of Torchlight and you explore various mines and dungeons to find bounty and magic. But as it turned out, the magical stone beneath the city can be corrupted and destroyed by evil Ember. So you have nothing to do but to plunge into darkness and sort things out. The players, familiar with Diablo, find the same control system: left click to move your character and attacks, and there are tons of hot keys for potions, powers, etc. Dungeons are generated randomly, so you never see same locations. There are also one-shot portals and random dungeons intended for loot search; they serve as additional fun to the main quest and make the game much interesting. Another fascinating feature is ability to have a pet. You select a cat or a dog, which accompanies you, fight at your side and can be sent to town to sell its loot.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
Torchlight is an engaging game that gives you the isometric point of view, and is rendered in 3D with original design. The characters and enemies are animated and look cartoonish rather than dark and horrible. And I should say that it works perfectly and creates unique, stylistic atmosphere violent from one hand and fun from the other one. All in all, Torchlight is the worth-playing game that brings you more enjoyment and quality gameplay than most of the big budget hits.
