Historic real-time strategy. Patrician III invites you to move back in Northern Europe of the 14th century and become a medieval merchant. The main goal of the game is to make a career from a small unknown merchant to a high position of a member of the Hanseatic League or become even Lord Mayor. We all know that money rules the world, so our hero needs a lot of it. There are several way how earn money: maritime trade, production of goods, fulfillment of missions or piracy, though you can’t build up good reputation in this case. A player must win public recognition of all rich, middle class and poor to succeed in the game. It is possible to achieve by ennoblement of towns, diplomacy and charity. Commerce plays a significant role in the game; you sail from one city to another trying to make the highest profit, setup new trading routes, supply towns with commodities, build ships, hire captains, develop manufacturing, defend towns and do many other things. But one thing is to earn money and the second is to save it. Numerous ruthless pirates are waiting for you in high seas, be ready to protect yourself and the cargo.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
Patrician III is one of the best games of this genre, which features elements of trading, city building and battles. Graphics is qualitative and detailed; everything from towns and landscapes to sea battles and ships is depicted on high professional level and contains typical features of the given historic period. You’ll be impressed by diverse sound effects that match perfectly to the whole atmosphere; music that you can hear in ports is quite well and makes the game livelier. The interface is quite well thought out; it takes time to get used to but is convenient and works smoothly. Anyone, who is looking for a new long-lasting strategy experience should find a lot of challenge and enjoyment playing Patrician III.
