Genre and what to do:
City-Building game. The Settlers: Fourth Edition is a challenging game, in which you are to build a colony from scratch with a thriving construction and mining industry, tool, food, and weapon production. This is a rather complicated process in which each building depends upon the others. You start from building the core resources: wood and stone. After this you should build mines to gather other resources such as coal, iron, gold, etc. With minerals you can make tools and weapons. You can choose between three races: Romans, Vikings, or the Mayas. You should create the settlement which become more and more attractive and could be a paradise. But Morbus with his evil machinations try to ruin the paradise you’ve created… The three suggested races differ not only in the appearance and architecture but in their features as well. They raise different farms, produce different beverages, use different weapons, etc. Your troops can be engaged in both land and sea battles. Every campaign requires you to destroy your opponents.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
The Settlers: Fourth Edition is a nice sequel to the original game, which features rather good graphics and relevant audio. Much attention was paid to the description of details in the game. You have a possibility to zoom in when you want to have a close look at something. The sound system suggests you to listen to very suitable sound effects and varied background music. Overall, it is a nice and challenging game which demands all your attention and logical thinking.
