Matching game. Welcome to Caribbean Hideaway that offers players to plough all the seven seas to win riches, glory and find your own exotic island as a hideaway for your crew. Game play can be described in the following way. First of all you select name for your island, choosing from four given ones. Initially your island is scarcely populated, but as you build new constructions and rise in rank, new settlers appear thus developing infrastructure and creating new possibilities for development. You need two kinds of resources to build new structures – unemployed inhabitants and money. You earn money by playing matching game, where you need to create matches of three or more objects of the same kind. Each level requires completing one or several goals. For example, remove all the blue tiles from the board, or match tiles with pirates until red bar drops down, match chests with gold, etc. When you build some constructions they enable you use power-ups, for example, when you build a port you may use a ship power-up during matching game; it destroys a row of items at once.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
Caribbean Hideaway is one of the most developed matching games, I ever seen. It features bright detailed graphics, diverse sound effects and cheerful instrumental music. As for graphics, it is really well rendered and done; you surely like amazing marine backgrounds, as well as pirate-themed objects in matching game. Your island looks quite nice; you see buildings and inhabitants from top view that is very comfortable. There is involving storyline, represented in the form of book; it begins with prologue and reveals gradually before each level. One of the most amusing features for me is the following: you should try to keep the inhabitants busy all the time, because unemployed inhabitants steal your gold. There are 13 buildings that you may erect, namely smith, lodge, tavern, cannon shop, dock, etc. All in all, despite of unoriginal game concept, Caribbean Hideaway will keep you interested in till the last moment due to the possibility to manage and upgrade your own island.
