Over 40 missions spread across five campaigns (US-British Allies, Soviet, German, French and Polish), along with 13 additional scenarios that collectively offer a richly challenging combat experience. A .roll your own. mission and battle map editor further expand gameplay, allowing players to recreate virtually any battle of the Second World War.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
Theatre of War is an outstanding real-time strategy due to multitude of details and deepness of gameplay. First of all that I would like to point out, are battles on a scale of 1 to 1, since skirmishes begin on distance 100 meters already. Nobody prohibites you to fire artilery from one side of map to the other one. Among other things, there are woods and fields behind .the red markers., so reinforcement does not appear from air. The other feature that is worth mentioning is moral factor; if soldiers get into serious mess, they may panic and run away. The officers with high level of leadership may postpone disgraceful escape. All in all, Theatre of War is one of the best recreations of the WWII that surely appeals to wide range of RTS lovers, thanks to multitude of details and engaging game play.
