History of Snowboard games
Games IX Olympiad (1928) took place in Amsterdam - within the city was built stadium, which belonged to the city park. In space under stands auxiliary facilities were built. Stadium on forty thousand seats was built on tower stands, simulating windy mill. The Olympic facilities also included a swimming pool, tennis courts, and rings for boxing, wrestling, fencing and practice areas. Near the stadium were canal, marina, and hotel. In subsequent years, stadium was rebuilt to accommodate sixty thousand seats. During games all people were amazed by an Australian rower Henry Pearce, who stopped middle-way of his quarter lane and waited until ducks family will cross it. He was still able to earn the gold medal! X Olympic Games in the U.S. city of Los Angeles (1932) were held during The Great Depression but was remarked anyway for beginning of building of the Olympic complex city, including the stadium, swimming pool, and the Olympic Village in Baldwinn Hills. Games were held in the ancient-styled stadium "Coliseum" (build in 1923), with more than one hundred thousand people. Above the central arch of the stadium was torch burning. Outlining a large program of the Games, the organizers faced the need to disperse the venues for various sports. Thus, the rowers competed in a specially built canal in Long Beach, cyclists - in Pasadena, where a temporary cycle track was built. The Great Depression, remoteness of the location of the Games to European countries and the lack of financing, so only about a half of athletes managed to participate. Judy Guinness – a British fencer, conceded a right to win gold medal to her final opponent Ellen Preis of Austria. Judges did not notice two touches from Austrian sportsman.
