Genre and what to do:
The gist of the game lies in battles between two castles. The game arranged to play against alive opponents but if you have no body to show your power, you practice your skills beating AI opponent (it is quite entertaining too). The battle is framed in some rounds. Breaks between rounds give you time to spend some money (points) on siege machines, special items and army remanning. Every round takes a definite space of real time. All bought troops placed inside of three armies divided into nine slots. In the battle you keep under control each army and the way it is going to fight is determined by its content and order. For example, knights and halberdiers rush to attack whereas magicians and archers shoot from a distance. Special items include healing potions and repair kits for your walls. So you have everything to raze your enemy, ruin his castle and claim the victory. This what the game is about.
Style and atmosphere inside the game:
Castles and Catapults is a mixture of a real time game action and board game strategy. Gameplay is not boring but not addictive too. It takes you for an hour but you can't but notice its originality and eccentricity. Multiplayer takes you for little bit more and brings to the game some new colors. Offline gameplay : LAN Online
