A friend, a pen, and a sheet of squared paper - that's all we needed to play battleship game in our childhood. Can't be simpler, isn't it? Only classics polished and pampered to simplicity perfection. Exact Battleship invention date is not clearly known. Game roots belong to early 1900s. Game was typically played by kids at school and is played these days, but first commercial version was published at 1931.
SeaWar The Battleship 2 rules fully correspond to it paper predecessor, two 10x10 boards and 10 ships sized from 1 to 4 squares. Four game maps represent same classic rules, only environments, ships and shooting projectiles and their traces are completely redesigned©. There are three levels of difficulty, allowing novice players to learn game tricks and strategies gradually, and to find whether the AI could put up a decent fight against a moderately skilled player. For example: how to place own ships, so they will cover less space, and which algorithm to use to discover enemy ships faster.
|| If you prefer the challenge and unpredictability of a human opponent, you can play "Head to Head", or set up a network game©. Multiplayer game is possible by local network or internet.|
However, to play by internet, one of computers should have a global IP address. This is quite a rarity for a computer to be connected to internet in such a way, so let's hope developers eventually will amend this in a future release.
